Native Seeds at Normal Public Library Seed Library

| seed library

We are excited to announce that our chapter has donated a large variety of native seed packets to the Normal Seed Library at the Normal Public Library (206 W. College Ave, Normal, IL). These seed packets are FREE! Native seeds generally require a period of cold moist stratification in order to germinate, so now is the time to start making preparations for this process. LEARN MORE about this Seed Library, the importance of stratifying native seeds (and how to do it), and the species of seeds donated to the Seed Library.

* Many THANKS to the chapter members that donated seeds for this project and the volunteers that prepared these seed packets.
* Supplies of these native seed packets are limited. We may be able to refill supplies of only a few species. Therefore, we request that you take no more than one packet of each of these species. There is a sign-out sheet in the Seed Library binder to record what you have taken from the Seed Library.
* Packets are organized into the following categories in five drawers – Native Milkweeds, Late Spring & Early Summer Blooming, Mid Summer Blooming, Late Summer & Fall Blooming, and Native Grasses and Woody Plants”.

You can help the environment by growing native plants 😀.

Stay tuned for forthcoming information on a program that will be held on “Starting Native Plants from Seed” at the Normal Public Library on February 3.
